Through immersive workshops and practical training sessions, this program offers students a comprehensive education in filmmaking that inspires creativity, critical thinking, and enhanced technical skills. This initiative provides under-resourced communities and schools without film programs with film and media education from industry professionals that empowers youth to explore various facets of film and media. Curriculum is structured around the needs of each individual school that we serve and can manifest in a tailored delivery for optimal impact.

The program guides students through a structured curriculum covering screenwriting, cinematography, sound design, and film editing, culminating in the production of short films across genres from documentaries to experimental works. Their creative endeavors are showcased and celebrated at The Pegasus Film Festival, providing a platform for recognition and inspiration.

The world needs more artists: to support the economic development of the arts nationwide in multi-billion dollar industries, but also,
because we need more artists.

Industry Equipment

Students have access to professional-grade cameras, lighting gear, and audio equipment, ensuring they have the tools needed for full engagement in the filmmaking process. This initiative aims to overcome barriers to access in under-resourced communities.

Comprehensive Curriculuim

The curriculum introduces screenwriting, cinematography, sound design, and editing, which lays the course for a complete artistic journey. Mini-lessons, film screenings, and practical exercises inspire creativity and prepare students for the filmmaking experience.

Creative Development

Beyond technical skills, the program focuses on building confidence and fostering collaboration among students. Experienced industry professionals and educators mentor students, guiding them in expressing unique perspectives through storytelling.

Film Festival Showcase

The culmination of student efforts is highlighted at The Pegasus Film Festival, where their films are submitted, screened, and celebrated. This platform provides recognition and networking opportunities within the youth filmmaking community and to arts and technology college representatives.

Inclusivity & Accessibility

Operating during school hours, the program ensures accessibility to students without the added stress of scheduling and transportation.

Portfolio

Students will create a piece during the program that could be the start of their forever artist portfolio, which is great for college and careers in the arts.

The three-story campus houses six independent magnet high schools in East Oak Cliff and serves as a unique educational complex with several specialized programs. Each school operates its own curriculum, making it an educational hub in Dallas ISD.
